All Dressed Up Design Team

I am so excited to announce that I am now a design team member of All Dressed Up. What an honour it is to be part of the team!

Here is my very first project.I have used the sweet Festival Lily digital stamp.

I started with my favourite skin combo. I got this combo from Alyce at Kit and Clowder. She runs amazing online classes teaching you how to colour. Highly recommended!

festival_lily_hair_w.jpgHair was next. I went for this teal/red combo with a dash of silver Wink Of Stella pen for a bit of sparkle.

The sunny dress combo was……

I finished up the butterflies with these red colours…

The teal and orange butterflies were done with the same colours as the hair and dress.

I used Wild Honey Distress Ink mini pad to distress the edges of each layer of card. Then I experimented with a fringed look by making tiny snips in the edge of my coloured image. I thought it would fit the vibe of the image. A rummage through my button box proved useful as I found a few cute buttons that tied in nicely. The card was almost there but just needed a bit more dimension so I stole the flower off another card that I had previously made and added it to the design. Note to self, buy more flowers!!!

Come and check out the All Dressed Up Challenge Blog. There are so many wonderful entries on there which are really inspiring. The current challenge is a nice easy one, ‘Anything Goes’, so why not grab yourself a couple of Wendy’s images and play along. Winners receive 3 stamps to add to their collection.

Scrappers Delight 2K Celebration

Join us in celebrating 2000 members on the Scrappers Delight Fan Group. Janice has very kindly offered this gorgeous fairy image as a freebie. Simply join the Facebook group, request the image and it will be sent through in a personal message. You can then colour her up and enter the challenge to win 3 images of your choice. I can’t wait to see what you all do with this cutie!

I used quite a few different techniques here. I started off with the background. I coloured it using copics, just random areas of V000, G00, BG000, R00 and Y00. I blended them together until they were relatively smooth and then I dipped the lid of my Ciao marker into some Isocol and pressed it on the coloured areas. I found it best to hold the lid onto the area for roughly 3 seconds.

I used my favourite skin combo E000, E00, E21, E11 and E04. Hair was E49, E37, E34 and E41. Wings were done using C9, C7, C5, C3, C1 and C0. I then added the dots to the wings using a white paint marker, Jelly Glaze pens and a touch of silver glitter glue. I used paper piecing for the dress to achieve the uniform polka dot look. I did this by running my image through the scanner and printing it on the patterned paper. Then it is just a matter of carefully cutting out the dress and adhering it to the image. I used the c3 and c1 markers to add a tiny bit of shading to the crease areas of the dress as well.

I always like to rough up the edges of my images. I seem to have better control and a better result using scissors rather than a distress tool. I used the c9, c5, c3 and c1 Copics to colour the distressed areas to really make them pop.

A rummage through my sentiment and embellishment drawers and she was finished!

Alyce + Lila Bear

So, here is my entry into the Kit and Clowder Alyce + Lila Bear challenge. What a cute image it is of Kit and Clowder’s Alyce and her beloved feline Lila by Yampuff.

I had a little fun here with rainbow dip dye ends on the hair.

Here are the colours I used for the hair.

The grey/black area of the dress and Lila were done with 100, T9, T7, T5 and T3.

I tried a new technique around the edges of the image too. I distressed them and then used pink and blue copics (RV04 and B04) to add some two tone colour.

The white bow is a Kirigami design that I found on the RedTedArt YouTube channel. It is quite easy to master and they make very nice embellishments for cards so I urge you to have a go!

Head on over to the Kit and Clowder Facebook page this month and you can pick up this Yampuff image for free. It’s lovely to colour so why not join the challenge too!

Ballgown Ellie

I thought that I would start the new year with a digital stamp from an artist that I have not purchased from before…. The Paper Nest Dolls. Boy are there some cute images here

I started by colouring with my favourite Copic skin combo: E000, E00, E21, E11 and E04.

I decided to go for a purple/orange/yellow hair blend here for something different. I used BV08, V05, YR14, Y13 and a touch of YR61.

With all of that crazy hair I chose to do the dress in nice contemporary pinks and purples. Purple: T7, T5, V06, V04, RV63. Pinks: T5, RV63, RV55, RV63. I love adding some shimmer and texture to clothing so I used my Uni Posca white paint pen to add some dots.

The background paper for this card was actually a water colour experiment that went all wrong (a completely different project). It came in handy for this card though as it had the right orange, pink and purple tones plus a touch of green for contrast. I hand drew the heart shapes on the card as I didn’t want them to be too ‘perfect’. Sentiment and hearts were distressed and edged with Tim Holtz distress ink in ‘Wild Honey’.

A touch of pearl strand, loose pearls and tulle and the card was done!

I’d love to hear what you think of this one.
